NOTE : These directions are for the iPhone and iPod Touch. Please note the iPod must be version 1.1.3 and have the January '08 Software upgrade package installed. If you purchased the iPod without this software, then you will need to purchase the additional software upgrade package. (If you don't see Mail, Notes, Weather, Maps, and Stocks on the Main Menu then you need to purchase the upgrade.) This upgrade also includes the VPN client that is required to use the SIUC Wireless. Here is the URL to purchase if needed. http://www.apple.com/ipodtouch/whatsnew.html iPhone has come with the VPN client since it's original release.
Using the Native (built-in) VPN Client
- From the main menu, Tap Settings.
If the VPN was configured from "Step 1 - Installation" you should now see VPN directly below your Wi-Fi. (Top of the Settings page)
- Settings menu, Tap Wi-Fi.
- Wi-Fi Networks, Tap Off (which will change the setting to ON).
- Wi-Fi Networks, If you have not already done so choose SIUC-iv, SIUC-ov, or SIUC-ov2 (You should now see a checkmark to the left of the name).
- Wi-Fi Networks, Tap Settings (Top Left, to take you back one screen).
- Settings menu, Tap VPN (This will turn the VPN ON. You should see "Connecting..." next to the VPN. Once it's connected it will then just say VPN and now show ON.).
