Pocket PC VPN HOW-TO Install |

NOTE : This will not work with MS Mobile 5.0 Smartphone (non-touch screen). It will however work with MS Mobile 5.0 (touch screen). We are in the process to get the "non-touch screen" to work with the VPN. Check back often to see if there are any updates on this website.
- Click Start -> Settings -> Connections (Bottom Tab) -> Connections
    
You should see an image something like the image above on the left. If this image looks like the above image on the right, click here.- Click Add a new VPN server connection
- Put in the following information
Name : staff-1 (student-1 or other-1. This is just a Name/Description)
Host name/IP : 131.230.76.177
Click on PPTP
Click on Next
- On the Username/Password screen put in the following information
Username : (This is your Kerberos/email ID. For example, if your email was john_doe@siu.edu then you would put "john_doe" without the quotes.)
Password Field leave blank
Domain Field leave blank
Click on Finish
- Click Edit my VPN servers
- Click New
- Put in the following information
NOTE : This sets up 2 Servers for your connection. Please view one as a backup.
Name : staff-2 (student-1 or other-1. This is just a Name/Description)
Host name/IP : 131.230.76.178
Click on PPTP
Click on Next
- On the Username/Password screen put in the following information
Username : (This is your Kerberos/email ID. For example, if your email was john_doe@siu.edu then you would put "john_doe" without the quotes.)
Password Field leave blank
Domain Field leave blank
Click on Finish
- Click ok (top right of the My Work Screen that comes up after adding the second VPN)
- Click ok (top right of the My Work Screen that comes up after adding the second VPN)
You should now be back to the Connections screen.- Click "Edit my proxy server"
Click the check boxes and put "131.230.9.26" (without the quotes) in the Proxy Server field as in the image above.
- Click the "Advanced..." button
Change the HTTP Port to 6990 as in the image above.
- Click the OK (top right)
- Click the OK (top right)
You should now be back on the Connections page
- Click iPAQ Wireless (sometimes located on the Start Menu or in the Programs Menu)
NOTE : This Step is showing the built in Wireless on a particular iPAQ. Each Pocket PC will be slightly different. Find the Utility used to turn on the Wireless Network Card (built in, or external) and make sure it is ON or the next few screens may not appear.
- Click Connections
(Located from Start -> Settings -> Connections (Bottom Tab) if not already there)
- Click on Advanced (Lower Right Tab)
- Click on Network Card
- Click on Add New Settings...
- Put in the following information :
Network Name : SIUC-iv
Connects to : The Internet
- Click on Authentication Tab (lower right)
Uncheck the Data Encryption
Uncheck the Network Authentication
Click ok (top right)
- Click on Add New Settings...
- Put in the following information :
Network Name : SIUC-ov
Connects to : The Internet
- Click on Authentication Tab (lower right)
Uncheck the Data Encryption
Uncheck the Network Authentication
Click ok (top right)
- Click on Add New Settings...
- Put in the following information :
Network Name : SIUC-ov2
Connects to : The Internet
- Click on Authentication Tab (lower right)
Uncheck the Data Encryption
Uncheck the Network Authentication
Click ok (top right)
- On the Add New Settings...Screen you should now see SIUC-iv, SIUC-ov, and SIUC-ov2.
- Click ok (top right corner)
- Click ok (top right corner)
