The Tungsten handheld and the palmOne Wi-Fi Card for Tungsten T3 and Zire 72 include the MergicVPN client at no additional charge.Minimum System Requirements
- A Palm OS device with an English version of Palm OS 3.1 or higher.
- 320 KB of available space on the Palm OS device. (Requires 220 KB after installation.)
- Some way to obtain a TCP/IP network connection. Supported methods include IEEE 802.11 (WiFi) wireless LAN modules, wireline and wireless modems, smartphones, and mobile phones connected to handhelds using Bluetooth, infrared or cable.
Known Compatiblity Issues
- The Palm.Net service used by the i705 and Palm VII is not supported.
- The Sony Wireless LAN Cards require a Palm OS 5 handheld.
- The HandEra CF LAN and CF Ethernet Network Services are not supported.
- The Symbol Spectrum24 Network Service is not supported.
Installation proceedures
- Download (either the trial or purchase the full version) the Mergic VPN Client from http://www.mergic.com.
- Install according to the PDF User Guide.
- On page 8 of the User Guide where is says "Replace the Untitled with a descriptive name" type "SIUC" (without the quotes).
- On page 11 of the User Guide where it says "enter a VPN server name or address" enter either of the following IP addresses :
131.230.76.177
131.230.76.178- Be sure to put in your Kerberos ID as the Username. If your SIUC email address is username@siu.edu then you would type "username" without the quotes in the User Name field.
- The rest of the configuration can be kept as default settings.
