Windows XP / 2000 Printing Instructions


Installing the Printing Popup Client for Computer Use:

Step 1.

Download the Installer from

CWPSCampusPopupClient.exe

Note: If off Campus you will be prompted for your Network ID and password.

Step 2.

Run installer and click Install.

Click Finish.

 Step4.

The installer should automatically install the required software then close. You should have the two CWPS printers in your Printers and Faxes.

Printing using the Printing Popup Software:

Step 1.

Print a document as you normally would. Be sure to select the correct printer. CWPS Black and White Print Queue prints ONLY in black ink and CWPS Color Print Queue prints only color pages even though they are printing to the same printer.

Upon clicking OK, the popup client will prompt you to enter your Network ID and Job Name. (Be sure to type in your Network ID correctly. It will not prompt you if it is incorrect. You will be unable to retrieve your print job if this happens.)

Note: If printing in color you will be prompted with information about the job. You must accept the color job in order to proceed. The job will not be sent until you click Yes.

 Your print job will be sent only to the following locations on campus automatically. (Xerox printers are the only printers that are able to use the wireless connection.)

  • Agriculture Building - 2nd floor room 222
  • Applied Sciences & Arts Building - 1st floor, room 112, Computer Learning Center 2
  • Communications Building - basement, room 9, Computer Learning Center 4/New Media Center, room 2010
  • Faner Hall - 1st floor, entrance 2A, rooms 1025 & 1031, Computer Learning Center 1
  • Grinnell Hall - 2nd Floor by Mail Area
  • Lentz Hall - basement, computer lab
  • Lesar Law Building - Cafeteria, and Law Library 1st Floor
  • Lindegren Hall - MRC & room 203 <--- School of Medicine affiliates only
  • McLafferty Annex - Mc Lafferty Road
  • Morris Library - 1st floor
  • Neckers Building - 1st floor, Computer lab room 146
  • Parkinson Building - Room 201c
  • Rehn Hall - basement, room 21, Computer Learning Center 3
  • Student Center - 2nd floor in Student Study Lounge, 1st Floor by Information Station

Troubleshooting:

  Q: I have installed the popup software but I keep getting this error? Why?

Dialog Box stating

 A: You may or may not be connected to the SIU wireless network or are not connected using the VPN software.

To resolve this issue follow the steps below:

Step 1.

Connect to a wireless access point on Campus (SIUC-XX) or off Campus Internet connection.

 Step 2.

Connect using the Cisco VPN client.

If you do not have a VPN client please go to http://wireless.it.siu.edu/ and follow the posted directions.

Step 3.

After connecting using the Cisco VPN print the document again.

Directions for Printing Double Sided With a Xerox printer:

Step 1.

Print as you normally would.

Click on the Properties Button.

  Change Print on Both Sides to Flip on Long Edge or Flip on Short Edge.

 Step 3.

Click OK, to send finished print job.

Uninstalling Printing Popup Client:

Step 1.

Go to your Start menu and select the Pharos folder.

Step 2.

Select Uninstall Pharos

Step 3.

You will be prompted by the Pharos Uninstallaton software. Select Next.

Step 4.

Select all Pharos Components within the list. Then continue to select Next until the uninstaller has finished.

Step 5.

Select Finish. You will then be prompted to restart your computer.
